Customized birthday card: a unicorn performing aerial silks!

Almost one month after my latest customized birthday card with a cookie driving a convertible car, I'm doing it again! ๐Ÿ˜Š

This time, it was for another colleague who likes unicorns, glitters, and who started aerial silk at the begginning of the year - here's a performance of aerial silks on the song "Skyfall" by Adele, if it's the first time your hear about aerial silks ๐Ÿ™‚.

I really love drawing unicorns, I already made several of them with Deadpool on a unicorn (birthday card, in french), or in the old banner of the blog (in french). But this time, it's on paper, not with software, there's no Ctrl + Z possible!

I had a rather precise idea of what I wanted to do.
I always do my preparatory thumbnails on small draft papers that I cut from the envelopes of the mails I receive. Hence, these preparatory sketches are only a few centimeters long ๐Ÿ˜‚ But it's enough to help me working on poses or anatomy when it's the first time I draw them.

I trace the outlines on the final paper with a blue pencil, in order to make it less visible under the watercolor.

Speaking of watercolor, here are the gorgeous watercolor palettes I brought back from Japan! ๐Ÿ˜
These are the Gem Colors and the Pearl Colors from the brand Kuretake, bought in a Hands shop. I was expecting the purple from the Gem Colors to be beautiful, and yet I was a little bit deceived of it. The yellow of the same palette is really perfect for gold, so I used it for the hooves of the unicorn.
The Pearl Colors, however, is awsome! ๐Ÿ˜ I have the feeling that the shiny white will be used a lot for other unicorns or magical elements ๐Ÿ˜
